Linux KDE Applications
In this chapter I want to briefly show how to create
on a computer that is running Linux, convenient for
User working environment. So much so easy to do
could eliminate the use of Windows and Windows-based products. K
Unfortunately, until recently, this ultimate goal was unattainable.
The main reason was the lack of programs

development of Linux wide range of users. With the
Russian language versions of OpenOffice.org situation has
changes. You now have all the necessary components to create
a full-fledged Linux desktop environment. That's what I try to show in
this chapter.

Under "comfortable working environment" I am
mind set of software products that address those problems
that commonly arise in the daily work on your computer, whether in
Windows, Linux or any other operating system (I'll try to concretize the notion of "user-friendly working environment").
The basis of such an environment, I propose to put an integrated graphics
environment KDE. There are quite a few KDE games, KDE applications, KDE software and even a KDE office editor. As a part of KDE already has most of the components,
necessary in the daily work of "average" user
computer. However, something needed doustanovit. But before
talk about what in KDE is not enough, let's briefly consider what
is KDE itself.

KDE konsole - is an integrated graphics
shell for Linux (and other versions of UNIX), which is currently
includes more than 100 graphical applications and supports more
40 different languages. It is being developed within the movement Open
Source, ie, distributed open source software. KDE
allows you to combine modern functionality, usability
use and excellent design with the technological advantages
operating system class UNIX. At the time of this writing,
developers have released version 2.2.2 of the shell. But below
description, and all figures correspond to version 2.1.2, installed from
distribution Red Hat Linux 7.1 Cyrillic Edition. Of course, more
later undergo some changes in the direction of improvement
but the principles of building an integrated environment are preserved, so that you
can well use this text for the initial
acquaintance with this shell. Should also be noted that
even if the version of the KDE you will have the same, there may
some differences between the appearance of this shell as compared with
the figure below. The fact is that in KDE, as in all
Linux, all lend themselves to setting. And each manufacturer distribution
makes setting its own way. Keep this in mind and do not worry. Through
some time you will be able to completely change the look of the screen after
run KDE help system or KDE itself.
